Farm work! Inspecting the hooves before trimming.

I’ve been getting a lot of calls these days for farm tours and visits! I regret to say that we have temporarily closed the farm to visitors. The reason is, that we have opened our farm-based high school, LOCAL STEW U, in Chester, VA and will soon be moving our farm to that area. We started LoSU to meet the needs to teen students who find it difficult to impossible to sit at a desk and learn in the traditional educational style. Our philosophy is to engage the students with farm work and environmental science projects that help them focus and learn in more connected ways.

Meanwhile, between running the school, scheduled farm workdays, and preparing to move a farm to another property is plenty to fill our plates. We have enjoyed offering the farm for family adventures in the Culpeper area and look forward to reopening the farm for fun and educational opportunities for the Richmond and Tri-Cities areas after the first of the year.

Stay tuned!
